Bio Summary

Dr. Stephanie Diepeveen is an Expert at StateUp focused on digital technologies and governance, and works on projects covering public sector digitalisation, data policies, and the intersection between digital and mobile technologies and decarbonisation.

An expert in digital technologies and politics in Africa, Stephanie is the author of Searching for a New Kenya: Politics and Social Media on the Streets of Mombasa. Stephanie is also a Research Fellow at ODI and a Research Associate at the Bennett Institute for Public Policy. Previously, she was Deputy Director and Research Associate in the Centre of Governance and Human Rights, University of Cambridge. Stephanie also worked as a research analyst at RAND Europe, focusing on policy-oriented research in the areas of research evaluation, institution building and social policy, and as an Evaluation Lead at UKRI.

Stephanie has a PhD in Politics and International Studies from the University of Cambridge, an MPhil in Development Studies from the University of Cambridge, and a BAH in History and Global Development Studies from Queen’s University, Canada.
