Digital Government units across Latin America are making strides in serving citizens through digitisation, and achieving international recognition for their efforts. Yet they also face major challenges, including recruiting and retaining technological talent. To build and maintain digital transformation agendas that meet citizens’ needs, governments must harness opportunities to work with innovative GovTech providers, whether to rationalise administrative processes or provide better public services.

CAF Development Bank of Latin American has published a new Policy Brief, based on the major report ‘GovTech in Iberoamérica: Bringing More and Better Digital Innovation into the Public Sector’ by StateUp director Tanya Filer. The report considers the opportunities for developing the regional GovTech ecosystem in Latin America, and sets out the challenges and opportunities. Read more about the report here.

Los equipos de digitalización del gobierno en América Latina están avanzando en servir a los ciudadanos a través de la digitalización y están logrando el reconocimiento internacional por sus esfuerzos. Sin embargo, también enfrentan grandes desafíos, como reclutar y retener talento tecnológico. Para construir y mantener agendas de transformación digital que satisfagan las necesidades de los ciudadanos, los gobiernos deben aprovechar las oportunidades para trabajar con proveedores innovadores de GovTech, ya sea para racionalizar los procesos administrativos o proporcionar mejores servicios públicos.
