StateUp Welcomes New Head of Research

StateUp is thrilled to welcome Dr. Eszter Czibor to the team as Head of Research, strengthening StateUp’s ambitious research agenda and rigorous data and research offerings across the public-purpose technology ecosystem.

Eszter’s research and expertise as an applied microeconomist aims to inform the design of productive, inclusive and innovative organisations around the world. Over the last 15 years, Eszter has lived and worked in five countries. Eszter was previously a Principal Researcher at Nesta’s Innovation Growth Lab in London, striving to make innovation and business support policy more evidence-based and inclusive. Prior to joining Nesta, she was a Postdoctoral Scholar at the University of Chicago, and obtained her PhD in Economics from the University of Amsterdam. She began her professional life as an intern at the Hungarian National Bank’s Department of Statistics.

“When I made the move from academia to an innovation foundation with strong policy ties a few years ago, the experience in many ways felt akin to learning a foreign language. Now I see my role at StateUp as providing similar ‘translation services,’ encouraging and enabling the various players in the innovation ecosystem to communicate and collaborate with each other more effectively.”

I look forward to working with Eszter as we continue to build the knowledge and ideas infrastructure for public-purpose technology, delivering innovation, data, research, and upskilling products to support the most needed technology innovation and to innovate productively on the policy, investment, and business models around it.”
